Other Questions that arise as part of this process (which are minor compared with the Attachment issue):Ī) When I set up the IMAP account it populates with a Sent Items folder and a Sent folder. Had not synchronized as they were showing a File Size of 0 B?ĭo you know why the File Size is showing as 0 B? The files were not showing attachment signs, but I assume that was because they When I opened an email it did show the content. The files appeared in the EAS account, but they all showed a File Size of 0 B. Do you have any other ideas?Ĥ) I did remove the IMAP account and added it back as an EAS. I guess at this point it became clear the problem had not been resolved. I checked the webmail copy and that also showed all the files as having attachments. In practice is that any different to Copy/Paste? I did drag a selection of messages and the attachment signs appeared just the same. Unfortunately as the synchronization took place the attachment (paperclip) signs began appearing on the messages that did not have attachment, at the time the correctītw, you mentioned “drag” the messages. Of 0KB and without an attachment sign (paperclip). At the moment they are Pasted they appear with the correct Subject/Date information, with a File Size those without attachments did not have a paperclip next to them.ģ) I then Copy/Paste a selection of the emails to the IMAP folders (I didn’t do them all as that would take a long time to synchronize). Note, the emails in the new Personal Folders were correctly identified in terms of whether they had attachments A quick check showed it seemed to contain all the correct emails. I did this and a new Folder (“Personal Folders”) appeared in Outlook 2013. copied the PST file from the location listed above.Ģ) In Outlook 2013, open the PST file using File, Open & Export, Open Outlook Data File. To be clear do you want me to copy the PST from the locationĬ:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst
#Importing pst into outlook 2013 pro#
Just to clarify the process you want me to do:ġ) Copy the PST file from the old computer (running XP Pro SP3). In summary, this process does not seem to have solved the issue of the attachments appearing on messages with no attachments. Some initial results and questions from some testing. Many thanks for your reply it is much appreciated. I have read there is a workaround whereby you (a) set up the new account as an IMAP account rather thanĮAS in Outlook 2013, (b) transfer the messages to this IMAP account, (c) allow the messages to sync to the server, (d) remove the IMAP account from Outlook 2013, (e) add the accountīack as an EAS account in Outlook 2013 and the messages should appear. The reason I am using an IMAP account in Outlook 2013, is that Outlook 2013 does not allow me to import a PST file when I have it set up as Exchange Active Sync. When I import the same PST file into a test POP account in Outlook 2013, the paperclip signs do not appear.

It has been suggested this may be caused by the email containing Signatures.Īny ideas how I can import the PST file and only have paperclip signs appear on emails that have actual attachments (Word, PDF, Excel, JPG files, etc.)? This is a major problem as I can no longer establish which old emails actually do have attachments. Outlook 2013 and in the synched version in ) whereas most of the original files did not have an attachment. I have set up an IMAP account in Outlook 2013, but when I imported the PST file from an external hard drive for some reason about 95% of the emails show as if they have an attachment (i.e. I have emails from an old POP account in Outlook 2002 on an old computer that I need to get into a new account set up in Outlook 2013.
